Professional Practice Committee
As a Union of Architects, UMAR has the obligation not only of promoting themes such as quality architecture, sustainability, environmental awareness etc. but of supporting its members in the practice of the profession in their countries.
It is important for UMAR to carry out this service by knowing how architects access the profession and in what regulatory carry out their professional duties, what problems and difficulties they face, what issues are presently hindering them in improving the quality of their service. It also includes the role that professional associations have in all this.
Having this informaJon will enable UMAR to be more effective in providing this support using the intercommunication between its member institutes around the region.
The term ‘professional practice’ may have different meanings. Besides the meaning explained above, in some countries it also refers to a period of supervised practice of a graduate before he/she receives the licence to practice and joins the profession.
The Committee will therefore be going into these issues in order to provide a holistic picture of our profession in the Mediterranean.
